Here's how to make your own Turkey Tips place cards:
You'll need crayons or markers, glitter, scissors, construction paper cut 4" x 3", 8 1/2 " x 11" paper.
- Make a place card by folding the smaller paper in half so it measures 4 x 1 1/2 " (ask a grown-up to help).
- Place one hand (or in my case, paw) on the larger piece of paper and trace around your hand, fingers and thumb.
- Cut out your hand tracing. It should look like a turkey!
- Color or paint the fingers to make colorful feathers. (Don't forget to put an eye on the thumb.)
- Glue your turkey to the front of each place card.
- Ask a grown-up to give you all the guests' names who will be at your Thanksgiving dinner so you can make a place card for everyone. Don't forget to make one for yourself!
- Write the name of each guest on the turkey.
- Write a safety message on each place card. Here are some ideas:
- Make it click! Always wear a safety belt when riding in a motor vehicle.
- Test your smoke alarms to make sure they are working.
- Do you know your local Poison Control Center phone number? Post it by the phone.
(For more safety messages, visit NFPA's Risk Watch® Web site.)
- On Thanksgiving, place each card where the host would like each guest to sit.
- After dinner you can ask each guest to open the card and read their safety message.
