Hi Kids! Fire Prevention Week is my favorite time of year. Join me, Sparky the Fire Dog, and let’s learn all about smoke alarms and why it is so important to have them in your home.

Did you know that smoke alarms let you know when there is a fire? Working smoke alarms give you time to get outside and stay outside.

We will be posting new activities all summer so check back with us.

Did you know that smoke alarms don't last forever? Every 10 years, you need new ones. Grab everyone in your family and complete Sparky's Challenge (PDF English). With a grown-up, look at the date on the back of all the smoke alarms in your home. If they are older than 10 years, you need a new one.

Take a look around your home. You need a smoke alarm on every floor and inside every bedroom. Now you can help me! Grab a grown-up and have them press the test button on each and every one to make sure they work.

Print out our smoke alarm calendar to remind you every month to test your smoke alarms.
